Nickname/Others might call me:

Hartley in Sydney and Nana while in tournaments.

My gay character on TV is:

I don’t identify with any in particular but I’m sure someone in the club will volunteer a suggestion.

Post-game food – you will find me ordering:

Almost anything as long as it has no chilli in it.

My hockey experience:

Played hockey for the first time ever in the 2002 Sydney Gay Games and represented the club in the Euro Games In 2005 as goalie because no-one else wanted the position. I became a regular fixture for the club as a goal keeper that has aspirations as a winger and goal scorer from around 2007.

Best thing about being a Bentstix member:

The friendships formed both in the club and overseas through Pink Hockey tournaments.

I joined Bentstix because:

My hockey playing ex started playing for the Convicts so me also playing Rugby would have only led to trouble city I decided to concentrate on Hockey. I decision I have never regretted.

My fav position (on the hockey field) is:

Right Wing but content to be Goalie or Fullback.

When I’m not on the hockey field I’m:

Working with Housing NSW in Community Development or relaxing in my garden. I also enjoy cooking, reading and having quiet dinners with friends. I make a great sour apple slice, lemon cheesecake, pumpkin soup and relish using vegetables, fruits grown from my garden.

If life were a musical my theme song would be:

That’s What Friends Are For. Dionne Warwick: 1986

Keep smiling and keep shining

Knowing you can always count on me, for sure

That’s what goalies are for

In good times and bad times I’ll be in your goals forever more

That’s what friends are for…

I prepare for a game by:

Getting very nervous and not being able to eat.

If I was in drag for a night – my drag name and inspiration would be:

I have never done drag and have no desire to do so in the future but thanks for asking.
