BENTSTIX PLAYER PROFILE

Emma

Others might call me:

Rocky, Mel or half of M&M.

My fav L word character is:

Alice, she’s adorable.

My hockey experience:

Mostly watching…! I spent a few seasons watching Mel play for Glebe (I learned most of my hockey terminology from the sidelines), then supported her again from the sidelines in the inaugural year for the Bentstix women’s team. The Stix girls seemed so lovely, supportive and encouraging. It only took a couple of nudges to pick up a stick and before I knew it I was training for the second season.

Best thing about being a Bentstix member:

The ‘Stix Spirit’, the new friends and feeling a part of a community of like-minded people. And how helpful and encouraging everyone has been – I’ve been very lucky to have my new Stix friends help me out with technique, tips and tricks.

I joined Bentstix because:

I thought… “I can do that!” Of course at the time I really didn’t know if I could play hockey…

My fav position (on the hockey field) is:

Well, I played on the wing most of the year… But I’ve really loved playing Centre Forward in recent games.

When I’m not on the hockey field I’m:

Trying not to work as much, designing t-shirts and studying for a masters in business and technology.

If life were a musical my theme song would be:

Defying Gravity from Wicked – “I’m through accepting limits ’cause someone says they’re so. Some things I cannot change but till I try, I’ll never know!” Life should always be about trying things out yourself and not being limited by others’ views and opinions.
