BENTSTIX PLAYER PROFILE

Nat

My hockey experience:

Started playing in high school when I found out that soccer wasn’t offered as a school sport, and well hockey trumped netball when deciding what I would do instead. The addiction kicked in and I joined Sydney Uni Hockey Club after leaving school. Played for 6 years at the club, represented the uni at AUGs, played college hockey and got fully immersed in the dominant social culture that is club sport (cough copious amounts of drinking…). Took some time off to travel then returned to SUHC last year for a season but found that the age gap was a bit much for me!

Best thing about being a Bentstix member:

The sense of community and great support network. I felt welcome right from the start which made the transition to a new club that much easier. Everyone is so friendly and it is a lot of fun getting to play with an awesome group of people.

I joined Bentstix because:

I wanted to play hockey to keep fit but felt my time had passed at SUHC. Stumbled upon the Bentstix stall at Fair Day and before I had even turned up to training or a social gathering I’d already paid my fees! Just seemed like what I was looking for straight away.

Post-game food:

Chicken schnitzel for sure, or if I’m feeling fancy then I’ll go for a parmigiana. Throw in a beer and I’m a happy camper.

My favourite position (on the hockey field) is:

I’ve gone from fullback in school, to high striker at SUHC, and now I’ve made the switch to inner. Watch out Donna/Kat/Lauren, clearly my next step is goalkeeper!

When I’m not on the hockey field I’m:

At some form of live music event. Gigs, festivals, club nights… Music basically consumes my life and my bank account. Otherwise I’m relaxing with my mistress at home (mistress = amazing over sized couch!)
